The Dirty Boots Workforce Development Project: Fueling the Next Generation of Skilled Tradespeople

The Dirty Boots Workforce Development Project (DBWDP) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to rebuilding and strengthening America’s workforce by providing critical funding and resources to men and women pursuing careers in the skilled trades.

As our nation faces a growing labor gap—with more skilled workers retiring than entering the field—the importance of investing in the trades has never been more urgent.  From electricians and plumbers to HVAC technicians, carpenters, and welders, these professionals are the backbone of our economy. They build, maintain, and improve the very infrastructure that supports our communities: homes, schools, hospitals, roads, and businesses.

How It Works: $1 from Every Pound Sold Supports DBWDP

Our primary source of funding comes from our partner, Dirty Boots Coffee Company (DBC). For every pound of specialty-grade coffee sold, DBC donates $1 directly to DBWDP. These contributions power our mission and help us reach more individuals ready to build a better future—for themselves and for the country.

Who Can Apply: Supporting a Wide Range of Trades

Our program is open to anyone pursuing a career in a skilled trade. Whether you’re training to become an electrician, plumber, welder, mechanic, carpenter, or any other essential trade, you’re eligible to apply for financial support. We believe that trade schools provide a valuable path to a rewarding career, and our goal is to help as many people as possible gain the skills they need to succeed.

How to Apply: Simple, Straightforward, and Focused on You

Interested applicants can apply through our online application. We want to hear your story—why you’re passionate about your trade, how this support will help you achieve your goals, and what you plan to contribute to your community once you’ve received the support. Once applications are reviewed, we will select recipients based on need, dedication, and the potential impact the support will have on their future.

Awarding the Funds: Covering the Costs Associated with a new and or continuing career

Through strategic funding and nationwide partnerships, we:
  • Award scholarships for trade school and certification programs
  • Provide professional-grade tools to new graduates
  • Offer no-cost trainings and mentorship opportunities
  • Help promote awareness of trade careers through education and outreach
